VO might have a correlation to bad writing, but it's not a causation. VO doesn't make you write fundamentally broken plots or bad characters, it doesn't make you write bland and unimaginative quest designs, it doesn't cause you to remove RPing system and elements that provide meaningful tools for the player to use. Those that don't usually have a lot of other more questionable choices that effect writing and dialogue options than just VO. Plenty of games have managed to do both well. A game has bad writing and choices because it has bad writing and choices, not because it has VO. ![]() I entered my own prompt 'Black woman with white hair, Pillars of Eternity portrait' (dont need an account, eyy). btw this isnt the only website or software out there. ![]() How ridiculous is that for real Could also use it for tabletop characters too Heres what I did in DALL-E mini. I've never fully agreed with that fear or belief, especially if the player character is silent. AI-generated custom RPG portraits in one minute. I'm not worried VO will impact writing and choices. BioWare might have the budget for that, but not many others, least of all Obsidian. ![]() That's just a huge waste as even just a male and female VA would cost a ton, not even counting multiples. I doubt anyone wants character dialogue voiced.
